Fertility rates in both men and women are significantly decreasing across developed countries. Today, approx. 1 out of 6 couples face infertility issues. Not only are we deciding to become parents later and later, it's also lifestyle and environmental factors negatively impacting our reproductive abilities. At the same time, success rates of assisted reproductive techniques (e.g. IVF) have stayed frustratingly low over the past 20 years.
Addressing this issue, we are building a venture that introduces AI-based medical decision support tools alongside a holistic health approach to the fertility treatment process. Ultimately, we will be able to improve the success rates of applied techniques and enable the creation of a new generation of fertility clinics.

We are on a mission to redefine how reproductive care is delivered to patients. By combining AI-enabled technology with a human-touch, we elevate the patient experience, establish a new standard in quality of care, and create accessibility.
Your role

You will join a high-growth startup that is well-funded by Merantix. As a VP of Engineering, you are responsible for the development and implementation of our AI-driven technological infrastructure for a new generation of reproductive care clinics. This includes developing the technological architecture, overseeing the engineering team, and managing budgets and resources. The VP of Engineering will work closely with the Chief Medical Innovation Officer, ensuring the highest quality of care for patients enabled through the use of cutting-edge technology.
This role is a hybrid role which includes remote work and in-person collaboration in our headquarters in Berlin.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Starting from a product vision, work together with the medical engineering team on the product description
  • Lead the development and implementation of the technical product
  • Oversee the design of the high-level technical solution
  • Hire, lead, and mentor your team of engineers and technical professionals
  • Manage budgets and resources for the engineering department
  • Work together as part of the company’s senior management team on strategic and product-related topics

Your profile

  • Master’s degree (or higher) in computer science, software engineering or a related technical field
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in the following domains:
    • Information Systems (large-scale databases and data warehouses),
    • Cloud technologies
    • Data Mining and Statistics, Machine Learning methods and tools
  • Several years of experience in leading a full-stack engineering team
  • Experience in software product dev in healthcare 
  • Experience delivering user-centred products
  • Fluency in English

Preferable: 
  • PhD in Computer Science
  • Experience with software quality standards for health products
  • Basic understanding of UX research
