Your role
As an in-house IP Manager you will be working directly with the founders and the team leads to build and manage the IP pipeline and IP group strategy. You will collaborate with our scientists and engineers in the field of biotechnology and computational science, and liaise with external patent and trade mark attorneys, as well as IP lawyers. You will be one of the early employees, having an outsized impact, shaping the company through your efforts, experience and industry expertise.

What you can expect to do:

  • Manage and develop the company patent, copyright and trademark portfolio
  • Draft and/or manage external counsel for patent applications
  • Monitor competitive IP landscape and summarise for relevant teams
  • Assist technical and commercial teams with legal IP matters
  • Support developing the IP strategy of the company
  • Collaborate with outside counsel and legal patent attorneys
Your profile

Your skills:

  • Scientific background in biotechnology, materials science and / or related technical fields
  • European and or national qualification as patent agent and/or lawyer appreciated
  • 3-5 years working experience following your studies - in-house industrial or start up experience is a plus

You’ll be a great candidate if you:

  • Can communicate well and ensure clear and efficient communications between all stakeholders in our IP processes
  • Are fluent in legal and scientific language to describe inventions
  • Are excited by technical solutions to the problems of the material world
  • Have previously contributed to scaling a startup or a company department
  • Understand both technical and commercial needs to sustainably grow a company
  • Can work autonomously on strategic, commercial and legal topics, internally and with outside counsel
  • Ensure that IP governance procedures are updated to reflect current laws and practice, and are communicated internally
